Grvt just burned about 1% of its token supply. The same roadmap promises zero trading fees. Those two facts will need to have a talk.
On Oct 20, the Foundation's token issuer bought 1.1M GRVT on the open market and destroyed it with the contract's burn(). Onchain, on a public dashboard. Credit where due.
Now the fine print. Every round is "discretionary." The Foundation picks the size, the timing varies, and "monthly" is an intention, not a rule.
Meanwhile, the road to Grvt 2.0: • Earn, end of October: up to 11% on savings • Stable Funding Perps, November: stocks, FX, commodities, zero trading fees • Yield as margin, then Grvt 2.0 by end of November
Follow the Value: savers get the yield. Traders get free trades. GRVT holders get whatever the Foundation feels like spending that month. The announcement names no formula tying revenue to the burn.
A burn without a formula is a gift, not a mechanism. Gifts are nice. You just can't model them.
Discretionary buyback: token policy, or a monthly press release?
