DeFi has logged 43 price-manipulation attacks this year. The old record was 27, set in 2022. It's October.
That's DefiLlama's count as of Oct. 21. Combined losses come to about $199M, and one incident did most of the lifting: Tectonic, a lender on Cronos, lost about $124.5M to a donation attack on Aug. 30. Its TVL went from roughly $118.5M at the end of July to $3M a month later.
The other 42 were mostly small. 32 of them took less than $1M each. Not fewer heists, just cheaper ones, run more often.
Record year for DeFi. Just not the record anyone was trying to set.
